    Looking back (and forwards) for 20 years

    20 years ago this month in October 1994 a fledgling Charity called SAFE ran its first Course in the St Johns Centre in Shirley one rainy evening. I was 29 and still holding down a full time job but with some help from Jacqui Hollick and Nigel Hughes we ran an evening course for two people from the local community and a man from Ethiopia who was visiting the country for a month! It wasn’t until the spring of the following year that we ran our first daytime course for people in the St Mary’s area of Southampton but we had made a start, tried the materials and made a genuine difference in the lives of the people who completed the course.

    20 Years and still going!!

    20 year badge

    SAFE rans its first course in October 1994 and 20 years later we are still going. The Choices course, for Adults, Young Adults and Schools, continues to enable people to gain confidence, take control and make life-changing choices.

    If you know someone who is struggling to make progress and feeling low in confidence and motivation, why not refer them today.

    Updated materials

    New Manuals

    We have been busily updating our materials for our Adults, Youth and Schools courses and they are now available for use. Much of the content has stayed the same, but with some adaptation using candidates' experience of using the manuals, with a fresh look and more differentiation for each age group.
